In a recent cyber threat, malicious actors have been distributing fake Roblox Xeno script launchers, disguised as tools to run custom game scripts within the popular online gaming platform Roblox. Upon installation, these false launchers secretly install infostealer and Remote Access Trojan (RAT) malware on affected systems. This poses a significant risk for Canadian businesses, particularly those with employees who may access Roblox during work hours or use their personal devices for work purposes. The malware can potentially steal sensitive data, give attackers full control over the compromised device, and open the door to further cyber attacks. To mitigate this threat, businesses should educate employees about the risks of downloading unverified software and implement strict security protocols, including robust firewalls, up-to-date antivirus software, and ongoing employee training programs.
